Blue Creek loves to support agencies and missionaries carrying the Gospel around the world. Take a look at a few of the ministries we support.

Southern Baptist Missions Programs

As a Southern Baptist Church, we support the Cooperative Missions Program of the Southern Baptist Church.  This fund helps to support Baptist Hospitals, retirement homes, children’s homes, and missionaries around the world and at home.

In addition we support the following:

  • International Mission Board (IMB) – We do this through our annual Lottie Moon Christmas offering
  • North American Mission Board (NAMB) – We do this through our annual Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
  • New River Baptist Association (NRBA) – We support our local Baptist association through by giving a percentage of our offerings received.

Siler Memorial Scholarship Fund

History of the Scholarship Fund

Rev. Tasso Siler came out of retirement in January of 1960 to pastor the Blue Creek Baptist Mission in the Southwest section of Jacksonville.  The mission was founded through the efforts of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.  Pastor Siler passed away after serving just two months as pastor; however, his wife, Mary, continued to actively serve Blue Creek Baptist Church until her passing in 1974.  At her death, the Siler family formed this scholarship fund as a memorial to Tasso and Mary Siler and entrusted it to Blue Creek Baptist Church for its administration.  The Siler family and Blue Creek Baptist Church continue to donate to this fund annually.

Purpose of the Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the scholarship fund is to aid those who feel called of God into full-time ministry in a church with the cost of their seminary or Bible College tuition.  The bylaws of the Siler Memorial Fund state,

“It is our intent that any Protestant, having felt God’s call to serve him as a dedicated man of God ,would be eligible to apply for a grant.  We do feel priority should be given on the basis of greatest need.  Other factors include the individual’s ability to complete the degree program, their apparent dedication and their own willingness to contribute.”
